What\u2019s a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stone_fruits\">stone fruit<\/a>? Well, it&#8217;s anything with a pit in the center \u2013 think plums, juicy peaches, nectarines and apricots.<\/p>\n<p>For some of you, visions of apricots and peaches may conjure up memories of canning with grandma. For others, they were <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the<\/span> summer treat to enjoy under a shady tree with friends. Fresh-picked, sliced in a salad, baked in a pie, or shaken in a cocktail\u2026 the possibilities are endless.<\/p>\n<p>And who does not like homemade <strong>Ginger Peach Sorbet<\/strong>! It\u2019s easy to make. I like those freezable <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/ref=nb_sb_noss_1\/175-9278329-2918364?url=search-alias%3Daps&#038;field-keywords=hand%20crank%20ice%20cream\">crank ice cream machines<\/a>. Just keep the bowl part in the freezer so you\u2019ll be ready to whip up a batch anytime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7YyuwJIo_14\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<strong>My <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smallscreennetwork.com\/video\/760\/liquid_kitchen_blended_peach_whiskey_sour\/\"><strong>Blended Peach Whiskey Sour<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the adults try my recipe for a blended<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smallscreennetwork.com\/video\/760\/liquid_kitchen_blended_peach_whiskey_sour\/\">Peach Whiskey Sour<\/a><\/strong>, great to serve a crowd at a patio party.<\/p>\n<p>And for those of you that live in the Northwest \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/metropolitan-market.com\/home.php?\">Metropolitan Markets<\/a> is celebrating <a href=\"http:\/\/peachorama.com\/\">Peach-O-Rama<\/a> with juicy ripe super sweet peaches with a Brix level (sweetness) that is around 15 &#8211; sweet! <\/p>\n<p>So enjoy the summer days with succulent stone fruits!\u2013Kathy<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ginger Peach Sorbet<\/strong><br \/>\nMakes about 4 cups.<\/p>\n<p>1 cup sugar<br \/>\n1 Tbsp. very finely minced fresh ginger<br \/>\n1\/2 cup water<br \/>\nabout 2 lb. fresh peaches (or enough to make 3 cups of puree)<br \/>\n2 Tbsps. fresh lime juice<\/p>\n<p>Place sugar, ginger and water in a small sauce pan, stir and bring to a boil. Let cook about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, peel and pit peaches. If peaches don\u2019t peel easily, then plunge them into a pot of rapidly boiling water for about 30 seconds and then into cold water to loosen skins before peeling.<\/p>\n<p>Place peaches and lime juice in blender and puree until smooth. Combine peach puree with cooled ginger mixture.
